So why should you hire Lice Tamers? Because it is the only way to get rid of the little buggers. I chose Lice Tamers because they make home visits AND they are registered nurses. Melissa was wonderful, as I turned into the worst customer anyone could imagine..she made me feel 100% better. After the treatment she declared me lice free and I had the first good night’s sleep in over a week. I highly recommend Lice Tamers to everyone.

Lice are the last thing you want your child to have while trying to enjoy the summer. Home remedies do cure the lice, but could take a longer time then getting it treated. Lice Tamers in Huntington, NY provides special and safe treatments for lice.

A CNN article states, “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 6 million and 12 million infestations occur each year among children ages 3 to 11.” (http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/17/health/head-lice/)

The article also mentions facts on about lice:

• Lice don’t jump or fly; they crawl from one person to another.
• Head lice are treatable (it might take some work) and rarely cause serious health problems.
• Head lice are usually spread from head-to-head contact, not from sharing brushes, hats or bedding (although that is also possible.)
• Head lice may be on your head, your child’s head or your spouse’s head, but it won’t affect your pets and can’t infect furniture, bedding or pillows.

Some products do not kill lice eggs or babies and non pesticide products can be safer for your child. Lice Tamers of Huntington promises same day services and chemical free products.

Head Lice Prevention Tips for the Spring!

LICE TAMERS

260 E. Jericho Tpke, Huntington Station, NY 11746

877-237-LICE

www.LiceTamers.com

Contrary to what most people believe, head lice is a year-round problem. There are, however, certain times of the year when head lice tend to be more prevalent. Whenever children get together in large groups, the chances of head lice being spread among them tends to increase. The spring season is one of those times.

Head lice prevention starts with being aware of how it's spread. Head lice do not jump or fly. So, how do children contract head lice from one another?

The main avenue through which head lice are spread is direct contact, i.e. head-to-head contact, sharing brushes and sharing hats and/or head gear.

This spring, be sure that your child does not share helmets or other head gear with children on their sports team. If there is no option but to share, make sure that your child wears a protective barrier between their head and the head gear, such as a baseball cap.

Lice Tamers is offering FREE head checks to local teams this spring. For information to set up an appointment, call 631-479-2595 or  visit www.licetamers.com!

Questions About Lice? We've Got Some Answers!

LICE TAMERS

Through the years, you've probably heard a ton of information about lice. Some true and some untrue. Lice Tamers is here to provide you with the correct facts about head lice and answer some frequently asked questions!

Don’t panic, we’re also available to help rid your family of head lice safely and effectively without the use of toxic that can harm your family.

Here are a couple of facts and answers about lice! If you have any questions about lice or suspect someone in your family may have head lice, call us immediately at 877-237-LICE.

What are the symptoms of head lice?

A: An itchy scalp. A tickling feeling of something moving on the scalp or through the hair. You may see red bite marks on the scalp or red rash on the back of the neck. Some individuals exhibit no symptoms at all.

What are nits and what do they look like?

A: Nits (louse eggs) are very small, about the size of a sesame seed. They are laid by the adult female and are attached at an angle to the base of the hair shaft, with a very strong glue. They are yellowish, tan or coffee covered ovals, usually found near the crown of the head, around the ears, and near the nape of the neck. Nits take about 7 to 10 days to hatch.

Can lice jump or fly?

A: Contrary to popular belief, lice cannot fly or jump. They do not have wings. Lice are crawling insects. They only way to get head lice is through close contact or sharing clothing or hats from an individual who has it.

What do I need to do in order to get rid of lice in my home?

A: Lice are NOT living in your home! Nits (eggs) need the warmth of your scalp and food supply (your blood) in order to hatch and survive. Lice want to be in your head. If a louse falls off, it’s by accident and it will die shortly thereafter. Wash all bedding and vacuum as you normally would. We recommend changing your pillow cases daily as an added precaution. That’s it!
